Description & Objective:

Block diagrams on TI.com are used by electronic system design engineers to generate ideas for their applications and identify the applicable TI products to create those applications.

The primary objective of this project was to get a better understanding of how system design engineers utilize block diagrams in this process.  In particular, stakeholders wanted to evaluate which of two content approaches would be more relevant and useful to design engineers.  One approach was to provide multiple variations of diagrams that detailed the entire system.  The other approach was to provide modular block diagrams comprised of simpler components that drill down to detailed variations of the components.  I designed and conducted a study to understand users’ impressions of the two approaches.

My Responsibilities:

Design and conduct face-to-face and online user studies. Evaluate results and provide recommendations to business unit stakeholders.

Tools:

Axure (prototype), UserZoom (online user testing), face-to-face user testing

Collaborators:

Subject matter experts from the applications business unit and a usability colleague who coordinated and moderated the face-to-face testing
